การป้องกันการรั่วไหลของข้อมูล (Data Leak Prevention - DLP) เป็นชุดของเครื่องมือและแนวปฏิบัติที่ใช้เพื่อป้องกันข้อมูลที่เป็นความลับหรือข้อมูลสำคัญไม่ให้ถูกเปิดเผยต่อบุคคลที่ไม่ได้รับอนุญาต ระบบ DLP ถูกออกแบบมาเพื่อระบุและป้องกันการรั่วไหลของข้อมูลทั้งที่เกิดขึ้นโดยบังเอิญหรือโดยเจตนา ไม่ว่าจะผ่านช่องทางภายนอก เช่น อีเมล หรือช่องทางภายใน เช่น อุปกรณ์ USB หรือระบบแชร์ไฟล์

โดยปกติระบบ DLP จะทำงานโดยการตรวจสอบข้อมูลในขณะที่กำลังถูกส่งหรือเข้าถึง และจะบล็อกความพยายามที่ไม่ได้รับอนุญาตในการเข้าถึงหรือส่งข้อมูลที่สำคัญ นอกจากนี้ ระบบอาจมีคุณสมบัติเช่น การจัดประเภทข้อมูล (Data Classification) ซึ่งช่วยให้องค์กรสามารถระบุและติดป้ายกำกับข้อมูลตามระดับความสำคัญ และนโยบายป้องกันการสูญเสียข้อมูล (Data Loss Prevention Policies) ซึ่งระบุถึงกฎและขั้นตอนที่ต้องปฏิบัติตามเพื่อปกป้องข้อมูลสำคัญ

DLP เป็นส่วนสำคัญของการรักษาความปลอดภัยข้อมูลโดยรวม และช่วยให้องค์กรปฏิบัติตามข้อกำหนดด้านกฎระเบียบ ปกป้องทรัพย์สินทางปัญญา และลดความเสี่ยงจากการละเมิดข้อมูลและเหตุการณ์ด้านความปลอดภัยอื่นๆ

Data leak prevention (DLP) is a set of tools and practices that are used to prevent sensitive or confidential data from being disclosed to unauthorized individuals. DLP systems are designed to identify and prevent accidental or intentional data leakage from an organization, either through external channels such as email or through internal channels such as USB drives or file-sharing systems.
